Reveiw: Lost and Found by Nicole Williams

I’m a huge fan of Nicole Williams. From her Crash series to her stand-alone to her mini-series about a seductress, I can’t stop reading what she puts out. After reading Lost and Found, my love for her storytelling only increased (if that’s possible) and Lost and Found has quickly climbed its’ way to the top of the list of favorite books from 2012.

After numbing pain for the past five years with boys, alcohol, and all-around apathy, Rowen finds herself on a Greyhound bus to nowhere Montana the summer after she graduates high school. Her mom agreed to front the bill to Rowen’s dream art school only if she proves she can work hard and stay out of trouble at Willow Springs Ranch. Cooking breakfast at the crack of dawn for a couple dozen ranch hands and mucking out horse stalls are the last things in the world Rowen wants to spend her summer doing.

That is until Jesse Walker saunters into her life wearing a pair of painted-on jeans, a cowboy hat, and a grin that makes something in her chest she’d thought was frozen start to melt. Jesse’s like no one else, and certainly nothing like her. He’s the bright and shiny to her dark and jaded.

Rowen knows there’s no happily-ever-after for the golden boy and the rebel girl—happily-right-now is a stretch—so she tries to forget and ignore the boy who makes her feel things she’s not sure she’s ready to feel. But the more she pushes him away, the closer he seems to get. The more she convinces herself she doesn’t care, the harder she falls.

When her dark secrets refuse to stay locked behind the walls she’s kept up for years, Rowen realizes it’s not just everyone else she needs to be honest with. It’s herself.

If you’ve read any of my past romance reviews, you’ll know that I have a huge thing for cowboys. I can’t help it and Jesse has everything a cowboy-loving reader needs. He’s cute, sensitive, a hard worker and he wear’s cowboy hats...enough said. I really fell for Jesse and his downhome attitude. His country way of bringing out the best in Rowen make him so easy to love and his vulnerable and sensitive sides make for a much deeper read.

Rowen clearly has issues. She’s grown up with a mother who clearly doesn’t care for her the way a loving mom should and she’s spent her life trying to numb the pain and push people away. Her character was extremely complex and her dynamic with the country family and Jesse were so great, I couldn’t put the book down!

Lost and Found really touched my heart. It hit a place close to home (almost all of William’s books do for me) and I couldn’t put it down. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for something sweet, heartwarming and sexy. What a combination, right?

10 out of 10 - whew. it’s been awhile since I gave a perfect score!

Happy Reading :)
